The 8th Chakra: Celebrating our Spiritual, Emotional, and Physical Confidence and Connection to the Earth and Universe through What We Wear and How We Treat Ourselves
We have now changed our name 8th Chakra , formerly known as Lyla’s Crop Tops. We have updated our name to further reflect our mission as a company. We chose our name because we are making all of our products in line with the balance between humans, the earth and the universe. We want our brand to represent a more holistic connection with the earth and the people we serve, and also want to serve more people.
We will continue make sustainable low rise bottoms and crop tops, but we are going to expand what we sell, and go completely non-toxic. We now use no polyester or rayon. We now use 5 percent or less synthetic fabrics in our stretchy tops and leggings; unfortunately all form-fitting suppliers we have found, even organic ones, do use a slight bit of lycra. Everything else will use 100% natural fabrics. We are moving everything we sell towards becoming non toxic, sustainable, and renewable.
In the near future, we will also begin to make more clothing, introduce clothing for men, and introduce natural hygiene care products. This will include:
- Ultra low rise leggings and other bottoms made from 90-95 percent organic cotton. We will also start selling sweat pants and shorts for men. We will keep selling low rise because we can't find it anywhere else, and find it easier to make it ourselves.
- Crop tops made from natural, organic, and sustainable fabrics. The stomach and core represent confidence, inner and outer strength, and emotional and spiritual balance. It also allows for freedom of movement.
- Athletic apparel for men, including 70s and 80s inspired half-shirts/crop tops. Half-shirts used to be a go to item for clothing as well for men; showing the midsection was (and continues to be) one of the easiest ways to keep cool and allow freedoms of movement, and was common for athletic activities.
- All natural personal care hygiene products with ingredients you can actually pronounce. Thank you again for visiting us.
We will continue with the same core mission. However, our new name and direction more reflects our evolving values.
Humane Sourcing
We also believe that our well-being and that of our customers is aligned with and in harmony with the well-being of the earth and the universe. We believe in the responsibility to make purchases that empower all and all humans to realize their own rights and goals by supporting a living wage, humane working conditions, and a better world that doesn't damage the planet and ourselves. You can find clothing with a similar appearance to ours for less; however, these tops are often made in poor working conditions with pay as low as $2 per day. The hidden costs that are not seen in low-price apparel are the worker oppression, low wages, and toxic contamination of cities and ecosystems that often is part of production. We prefer to source in a way that does does not harm anyone with hidden costs, even if that raises our upfront prices a little. You are paying the true costs of passing on hidden costs to that negatively affect humanity and the world.
We believe in a sustainable business model. None of our clothes are made in a sweatshop, not will be.
At this time, our business is small. As we grow, we will offer a larger selection of our products, and more variations.
